January 2017 – At the ICONIC AWARDS 2017: Interior Innovation competition, the international jury of the German Design Council recently rated the products INSIDE.CUBE and K+N BALANCE.CHAIR from full-service provider König + Neurath of Hesse as worthy of the "Selection" category. "We are proud of these awards as they recognise the consistent development of K+N's design strategy", says Cornelius Müller-Schellhorn, Head of Design at K+N. This is confirmed by further successes in the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.
With INSIDE.CUBE the jury members have given their award to a product that blends in seamlessly with the design of modern open office structures to function as a temporary retreat for distraction-free conversations. Thanks to its lightweight design the homely room-in-room solution – which is also acoustically effective – can be located exactly where you need it on an ad hoc basis. An exchangeable cladding technique allows panels to be removed and replaced for easy access to cables. The ventilation/extraction and electrics are controlled via a front-mounted technology module. Optional glazed modules provide additional transparency.
The jury also declared the K+N BALANCE.CHAIR, a revolutionary combination of task chair and stand-up support stool developed by Cornelius Müller-Schellhorn, a winner in the "Selection" category. This chair brings together the functions of sitting and leaning – making it the ideal complement to any sit-stand workstation. The upholstered cantilever backrest is flexibly mounted so that it can quickly be turned into a leaning support. The gas spring acts as a brake to prevent the chair from rolling away. Quality craftsmanship with exclusive material combinations and a distinctive linear design add a special touch. It's impressive thanks to its functions, design and use of materials.
The ICONIC AWARDS: Interior Innovation competition honours companies in the furniture industry and their partners in interior design and architecture who shape living spaces with their products and generate a succession of innovative solutions. This high-level award was launched by the German Design Council, which is one of the world's leading centres of expertise for communication and transfer of knowledge in the field of design.
