König + Neurath is counted among the "Best of the Best" in Interior Design with its meeting space solution LIFE.S Interaction.
The ICONIC AWARDS are considered a trend barometer for architecture and interior design. They are awarded each year by the Rat für Formgebung (Design Council) for exceptional innovations, and recognise the best from all areas of interior design. The jury has now paid tribute to the design style of König + Neurath with its highest award.
"Best of Best" award for LIFE.S Interaction + Stool
LIFE.S Interaction + Stool, the combination of table and bench seating which is suitable for the flexible furnishing of communication zones, was awarded "Best of the Best" in the furniture category. The 30 "Best of the Best" participants emerged from a field of 300 entries. The jury explained its decision as follows: "At first glance, the design with its slim tubes looks a little improvised. But when you look more closely, you can see the refinement of its well thought-out design, which meets the detailed requirements of contemporary open-plan offices and co-working areas. An original design which is not just young and fresh, but is relatively affordable: and this is given conscious expression in its puristic aesthetic." Cornelius Müller-Schellhorn, Designer at König + Neurath, says of the underlying design idea: “LIFE.S Interaction should be multi-functional in use, as can be seen from the restrained look with its unpretentious round tube frame. The acoustically optimised solution makes for an inviting meeting point and at any time it can be changed to meet new user requirements.
We welcome this award as confirmation that "Design follows function" is the correct route to take when the focus is on office furniture with functional added values".
2. Winner award for telephone cabin QUIET.BOX
The second award as a "Winner" in the office and workstation category goes to the QUIET.BOX with a rear panel in Lucem translucent concrete. A few months earlier, this innovative telephone box design received the German Design Award. In open-plan offices it provides quiet zones for short telephone conversations and moments of concentration. Peter Heimann, Room Systems Sales Manager for König + Neurath, describes the special features of this furnishing solution: "For architects, the design with its rectilinear design style is attractive, since it blends harmoniously into the room architecture. And fit-out companies appreciate above all that the QUIET.BOX is delivered and installed as a complete item of furniture. In open-plan offices it creates a balance between transparency and privacy.
